Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Temporary semi-protection: Should invoke WP:CT/AP, IMO. George Ho (talk) 02:48, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Is this about the moves? Have we decided that this is the title we're happy with yet? Daniel Case (talk) 02:43, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
- List of countries by largest historical comprehensive GDP (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Low quality edits corrupting the page. Lvxingzhe2718 (talk) 03:02, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. You created the page a week or so ago, one of the few reverts was you reverting yourself, and there's been just one of these "low quality edits" recently. Daniel Case (talk) 02:45, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: High level IP of vandalism Normal rookie (talk) 08:26, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 02:50, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Page continues to be targeted by a block-evading IP editor who keeps insisting that two unaired episodes actually aired, and won't take "no" for an answer. The Grand Delusion(Send a message) 08:26, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of six months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 02:52, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 02:54, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Requesting further protection for this article, submitted request here in late october 2024 and the article was semi-protected for 2 months, the same issue seems to be recurring now that the protection has lapsed.
History of unregistered and sockpuppet re-addition/modification of section "Former airlines and destinations" which does not meet standards for inclusion (WP:NOTDIR), and in its current form takes up 22k bytes and is largely unsourced. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kai+Tak+Airport&date-range-to=&tagfilter=mw-undo&action=history Transgenderoriole (talk) 08:35, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of six months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 02:57, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism by IP users. They keep adding the term Malaydesh, a derogatory name for Malaysia (as it if was dominated by Bangladeshis, as the blend suggests) and commonly used in neighbouring Indonesia. The claims that Kiron had intentions to join the Malaysian national football team, first came from a post by Facebook account "Seputar sepak bola" dated 2 October 2024, and it is a disinformation since he has not yet officially announced it. DDG9912 10:17, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Warn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. Daniel Case (talk) 02:59, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IPs continue to make disruptive edits after protection expired. Annh07 (talk) 13:35, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 03:01, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Daniel Case (talk) 03:06, 6 February 2025 (UTC)Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. No one has edited this since last March; it's also not a primary topic within PIA and it isn't related to the current conflict much.
Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. since apparently the talk page has already had a notice placed on it. Logged at CTOPS. Daniel Case (talk) 03:24, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Increase, as current level has not stopped people changing his height. On the MMA project we use Sherdog, by consensus, to avoid these edit wars, as there are multiple sources with varying statistics, which causes a lot of these little changes. Nswix (talk) 14:58, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Declined That was only one edit, and it might well have been a good-faith mistake. I'm not going up to ECP just on that. Daniel Case (talk) 03:43, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Declined Does not qualify under WP:CTOP Dr vulpes (Talk) 23:31, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Dr vulpes, I'm not sure I see the reasoning here. This page is almost entirely related to the Arab-Israeli conflict and even the parts that aren't are arguably still relevant context broadly construed. I think the case is not quite as stark for A Borrowed Identity below, but the film clearly has the conflict as a central them and thus also falls within bounds IMO. signed, Rosguill talk 23:34, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah I might have been too conservative with this one. I'll go ahead and protect the page and add it to the log thanks for pointing this out to me. If you check my talk page I've been going though and protecting pages that relate to this topic and I've been trying to be as conservative as possible with protections up to this point. I think I just overcorrected a bit. Dr vulpes (Talk) 23:38, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

Already protected by administrator PhilKnight. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 03:10, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: IP hopping edit warrior in a WP:1AM situation. Given the geolocations, these IPs seem to be related, but I don't see how 3RRN could handle such distinct ranges. In any case, they've been warned for edit warring here. Generalrelative (talk) 00:37, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – IP accounts changing the actor's birth year to 17BC. Sariel Xilo (talk) 00:39, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Reluctantly; two edits in three days isn't enough for me yet. Please request again if frequency increases. Added to watchlist. Sdrqaz (talk) 03:42, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP accounts removing a sourced Filmography entry (actor will be appearing in the next Exandria Unlimited campaign). Sariel Xilo (talk) 00:41, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Sdrqaz (talk) 03:42, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This is strange, but every 3-5 days, with a few weeks of occasional dormancy, a similar IP makes the same incorrect edit. This has been going on for months. An indefinite protection might be a bit much, but I would suggest a rather long length—perhaps six months or a year. Anwegmann (talk) 00:54, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. FMSky (talk) 01:19, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Unexplained content removal by multiple IPs. TornadoLGS (talk) 03:47, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Change "[kɾiʃˈtjɐnu ʁɔˈnaldu] ⓘ; " to "[kɾiʃˈtjanu ʁɔˈnaldu] ⓘ; " Where [ɐ] is replaced by [a]. The central vowel [ɐ] is not produced in general in stressed syllables in European Portuguese (EP). Also delete the audio that does not correctly reflect the current EP pronunciation. Jorgedesena (talk) 13:15, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
I would like to request that... (it says British Colonialism in 1607 led to the 13 colonies when in fact it was the English Empire who colonised those 13 states, Britain was not a union until 1707) . Mrwardster (talk) 23:17, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
Remove Tamil under languages for Bahubali 1 and 2. The Bahubali series is a Telugu movie series and should only have Telugu under languages. It was dubbed in Tamil, but the movies original language is Telugu. I would like to know the reasoning as to why Tamil is listed as the language for the movies. If the reasoning is that it was dubbed into Tamil, then almost all of the movies on this list need to have their dubbed languages listed. Srikarmuraki (talk) 05:13, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
